The Problems Associated With Overthinking and What You Can Do About Them

If you have a hard time turning off your mind or thinking too much about something that you shouldn’t really be thinking about, then you may be a victim of overthinking.

Overthinking can cause you to be paranoid, because you start questioning someone’s motive or your own. It can cause you to rehearse past events and try to find meaning in them where none exists. It can cause you to become indecisive sometimes known as analysis paralysis.

Regardless, over thinking is not a good thing especially for your mental well being. Overthinking can make you feel depressed, paranoid and anxious.

Here are some tips to help you overcome overthinking:

1. Recognizing when you are overthinking. If you find yourself thinking way too much, then you may already be overthinking. Overthinking also tends to occur more during night time when we let more of our mind wander.

2. When you recognize that you are overthinking, you can use healthy distractions. For instance, read a book, watch tv, talk to a friend, listen to music or exercise.

3. If you still find yourself thinking about the problem, then you may need to directly confront the issue. Sometimes the issue is so severe to us that no distractions can help and the only way for us to stop thinking about it is to find peace with it.

4. If you don’t want to directly confront the problem because of whatever reasons, you can also write the problem out in a journal or talk to a confidant about it. Sometimes all you need is a place to keep your thoughts somewhere so that it doesn’t stay on your mind.

5. If nothing helps, you can always seek a professional such a counselor. You can talk to them about your problems and they can keep it a secret while at the same time help you think through your problems.

Tips To Help You Become More Productive

What does it take to be more productive? Don’t we all want to be? Being productive helps us get things done. It’s important to be productive in life so that we can always be moving forward with our endeavors and not being stuck in the same place all the time. People who productive are always moving from projects to projects, their resumes include a list of many accomplishments while those who are less productive are usually stuck in mediocre job or lacking certain personal trade skills. That said, being able to be productive is definitely something that relates to personal improvements.

For me, I think being productive is about building a habit of being productive. If you are constantly working and finishing what you set yourself to do, then you are productive. Here are some tips to help you be more productive:

1. Remove all distractions from your life. For example, deactivate FaceBook or use site blockers. Cancel plans that do not contribute to what you have to do that take up energy and time.

2. Write a do-list the night before or in the morning. Set specific and small tasks. For example, instead of just planning ‘read chapter 6’ which might be too big of a task to complete in one day, write ‘read pages 234-260.’ This is much more specific and also much more reasonable because it accounts for how many pages you have to read. Furthermore, it helps you if you set estimated time to do each tasks. For example, ‘Read pages 234-260 between 3:30 and 4:40.’ Writing down the estimated time puts how much time you actually have in the day to do things in perspective.

3. Do the most difficult and most important tasks first. When we first wake up, we have a clearer mind to help us problem solve. Therefore, take advantage of this.

4. Schedule shorter working time instead of really long ones. We might think we have a lot of time to do things so we schedule long hours for each tasks, but in actuality, only a fraction of those working time are  productive. Find out when you are most productive and work during those time. Furthermore, scheduling shorter work time enables you to overcome procrastination because you’re less likely to dread the long hours of work.

5. For boring tasks, listen to music to get your brain more stimulated.

6. Do the type of work according to how much energy you have. When you have a lot of energy, work on tasks that require a lot of your attention. When you start to get tired, focus on tasks that don’t require as much energy. When studying and you still have a lot of energy, you might want to work on more energy demanding tasks such as ‘assignments or projects.’ When you are tired, work on tasks like ‘reading or reviewing notes’ which takes up fewer energy.

7. Think about the benefits of being productive. What it would mean for you to get things done. This might motivate you to not procrastinate.

8. Stop analyzing or planning too much.  Just get to work. For some, this approach is good, because you save time from having to do planning or ruminating about issues.  For others, analyzing and figuring out what’s making you unproductive helps find solutions to those problems. This leads to long term productivity. Choose your approach and adapt.

9. Eat and exercise well. To do work means to expend energy. Therefore, the more energy you have, the more work you can do. Our body primarily uses carbohydrates to fuel itself. Here are some food that can give you energy. In regards to exercise, studies have shown that exercise helps improve several cognitive functions such as increasing ability to focus and problem solve. Furthermore, exercise gives your body more energy by releasing your energy storage and breaking down chemicals to release even more energy.

10. Sleep well. Sleep helps repair damages done to the body. Adequate amount of sleep makes you feel rested.

9 Tips To Help You Overcome Tired Feelings When Chasing Your Dreams/Working

When you feel like you don’t want to continue anymore or that you are too tired to, here are some tips that might help you overcome your tired feelings.

These tips are generated from your responses on this

1. From how I understand it, tiredness can be physical that often results from ‘working your body or mind too hard.’ For example, when you work long hours that you do not get enough sleep. The second cause of tiredness is when you are emotionally tired. Symptoms of emotional tiredness might include procrastination, depression or lack of concentration. When you feel emotionally tired, try reflecting on the reasons you are and find solutions to them. For example, you might discover that you are emotionally tired because you have lost your reasons for continuing and that the solution is to reflect again on what you want.

2. Take a nap or bath. Sleep helps restore the brain and makes you feel rested. Baths relax muscles, calm your mind, detoxify, moisturize, stimulate circulation and clear your lymph system.

3. Focus on the outcome and what you will accomplish. When you feel tired because you are lost, thinking about the end product(s) can be motivating. It helps redirect your focus.

4. Taking care of yourself. Ways to take care of yourself is to ensure that you monitor how much you are working and how much rest you need. You could do this by keeping record of your daily activities. At the end of the day, go over your records and evaluate them. Determine what changes you could make to be more productive and efficient. Keeping a record also helps overcome procrastination. It increases your focus and awareness. Other ways to take care of yourself is to eat healthily, exercise and hang out with friends.

5. Accept that it’s okay to be tired and drained on some days. Sometimes, we might feel guilty when we aren’t being productive, but if you get pleasure of taking a day off, then go for it. ”Rest up. Tomorrow will just be another day.” ~ Sky Sullivan

6. Look for meanings and inspirations in your work. When you get burnout, think about the values you are providing to others. Remind yourself what it is that you are doing and for what reasons. If the reasons are more for yourself than for others, that works too. Reflect on those. We all have our own needs to fulfill and reminding ourselves of them can keep us motivated and on track.

7. Just Do It. This is where you literally ignore your tiredness and just complete the tasks you’ve set up to do. For example, if you know that you have to go to work and you’re really tired, instead of complaining or calling a day off, just get dress and go.

8. Listen to music or do something that gets your mind off things. When you are bored, listening to music keeps you entertain and helps you perform more efficiently on boring tasks.

7 Tips To Help You With The Creative Process

When it comes to being creative, creativity requires that you keep your mind open and always being on the look out for ideas. The reason some people can not find solutions to their problems or come up with new ideas are usually because they hold rigid beliefs about how they want something to be done and are not willing to experiment with anything new. Another reason is because they think that being creative means you come up with something original which is not always true. You must first observe around, borrow ideas and when you master the copying then are you able to come up with your own. That’s why sometimes when I first learn a new technique in a sport, I try to master the imitation then I move on to add my own style or touch (the creative part).

1. Borrow Ideas. Look around the web for your topic, read or learn about them, add your own thoughts or ideas to them. It’s really hard to come up with your own ideas, but you can become inspired by the ideas of others.

2. Brainstorm. Before you begin working on your task, jot down a few ideas or solutions on paper. Then examine and research more on the ideas. As more ideas and answers pour in, keep adding to your list of brainstormed ideas.

3. Keep Thinking. I know that in one of my previous article about creativity, I said ‘ideas generally come to you if you don’t think too much about them,’ this is true only when you are trying not to force an idea and don’t yet have an idea to go off from. However, once you have an idea, you want to think as much as possible and research more about the idea so you can keep building it up. Thinking is good once you have something to build on.

4. Talk to friends or others. You can share your ideas or problems with other people and they can give you their thoughts or criticisms. Don’t take the criticisms negatively, but use them to inspire you.

5. Rest up or be distracted. If ideas just don’t come to you, perhaps resting up or doing something else can help you get more ideas later. Part of creativity requires insights and these insights come at unexpected times.

6. Pay attention to your sleep dreams if you could remember them. Our dreams are supposed to give us insights or ideas, so paying attention to them might really help especially the more vivid dreams.

7. Be willing to start over.  If an idea just doesn’t work or can easily be solved, scratch the task off your to-do list for now. Work on another project and come back to it at a later time. Don’t waste too much time working on something that you are stuck on. Furthermore, the more productive you feel, the more ideas you can generate later.

If anyone else have ideas, feel free to leave me a message. These ideas are based on my personal experiences when I’m trying to come up with topics to write for articles and they have really helped me. However, they may not work for all so be sure to give me your feedback.

Questions To Help You Figure Out Your Future

Are you lost about the future of your life? Do you feel stuck, aimless, that life lacks substance? That you are simply waiting for someone or something to take control of your life? The truth is no one can change your life except yourself.

1. What are some things you like to see or have in your life? List them. Set up a plan to work towards getting each one.

2. What kind of lifestyle do you want to lead? Describe how you would like your life to be like in 1 year, 2 year, 3 year and so forth down the line. Pay attention to your progress and small changes that occur. What would you be doing each day?

3. Since you need money to survive and live the lifestyle you want, what is an ideal job that accomplishes those? How are you going to get there?

4. What are your bucket list? This question sort of relates to question 1, but bucket list are usually more about 1 time things that you’ve done whereas things you like to see or have in your life is more permanent. For example, a bucket list might be to Travel, whereas something you like to have could be a house, an expensive car, a significant other or so forth. For bucket list, write out as many things as you could think of no matter how silly they are.

5. How are you currently progressing towards your desired future? What are you currently doing now that’s getting you closer to your future?

6. What are some things you are doing now that is moving you away from the future? What could you do instead so you could move in the right direction?

Tips To Move in a Forward Direction in Life

If you feel that you are always stuck and going nowhere in life, it’s probably because something is holding you back. The reasons could be: 1. Not ready for change. 2. Fear of failure. 3. Lack of self-confidence. 4. Lack of vision. 5. Still holding on to somebody or some things. You fear that if you move forward, you won’t be the same person again and everything will be different. So you cling on to your old ways trying to prevent things from changing. However, if you feel that you can’t stay in the same spot anymore and you want some momentum forward, here are some tips that could help:

1. Take it slow and one step at a time. You don’t have to rush and blame yourself when everything is not going right. If some days, you feel that you are going nowhere, you don’t have to get frustrated.

el alright at where you are and not get pulled/pushed back. It’s a gradual buildup of how you feel and the product of your hard work. So if you feel good one day, ask yourself what is it that makes you feel good and keep striving for the thing that makes you feel good. If compromises are necessary, do it anyways. Strategically weigh the prices you have to pay for the future that you desire vs the having to feel bad at this moment.

2. Leave all baggages behind. If you are waiting for someone or hoping that someone would turn around, don’t. Put a closure to it. If you must intentionally destroy all chances you have with that person, do it and say everything you need to say ‘good or bad.’ Just don’t linger on any expectations. If something is meant to be, it will be.

3. Always smile and have faith in your actions. Never question yourself and if what you do is right or not. Just believe in yourself and realize that you’re human. If you’re making mistakes towards your objective, don’t sweat it too much. The outcome will be the same regardless of how many mistakes you make as long as you are striving towards that ending you desire.

4. If you’re lazy or your work habit is a mess, start putting effort into things. Get in touch with the feelings of discouragement, unsatisfactions, and guilt for not reaching your goals. They are your callings. Listen to them, and use them to be the driving force of your productivity. Only productivity can make you happy.

5. Forget everything else. Put the less important stuff aside. Try to not procrastinate. Be conscious of your habits and slowly replace them with something else. For example, if you find yourself watching Anime instead of studying, while watching Anime, think about your work behind your head. Eventually all you’ll be thinking about is work.

6. Start slow. Don’t immediately throw everything aside, start small by working towards making greater and greater sacrifices. For example, don’t immediately decide that you are going to stop hanging out with friends, or stop watching Animes, instead, slowly remove one thing at a time.

7. Should the day come when you finally succeed, then you can rest if you want to. At least, you’ve already lived your life to the fullest and will not have any more regrets. You’ll be eternally happy and carefree.
